I personally have an Audi and I can understand why most people would say it is unreliable, but the thing is, if you purchase it new or used in some cases , the audi dealers are very friendly and helpful in helping you fix anything and most of its covered by the warranty.. for example i have an audi a6 2.7T.. and my turbos went out once at 90K miles and they replaced it. The audi is a very nice car to drive and i cant stop on how smooth audis are.

I own a 2000MY A6 2.8 quattro sedan.

What's great about Audis - the smooth exterior lines. The interior is tastefully appointed - looks better than the Mercedes or BMW interiors in my opinion. Handles well with great stability. Great ergonomics and comfortable seats. The intangible "estoteric" factor --- not a BMW or Merc but in their league - not a lot of people have one. The A6 has more interior room and trunk space than a comparable BMW 5 series. If you want AWD performance, Audi's got one of the best systems and they're very experienced with the technology.

The drawbacks with Audis - they aren't necessarily trouble free vehicles, depending on the individual, and they are pretty expensive to service. Yes, they do have the Mercedes syndrome as one poster has stated.

I used to have an Audi 4000. It was a good car but the problems I encountered were limited service and "The Mercedes Syndrome". Audis are rare in the US so it's hard to find places that can service them and even more difficult to find replacement parts. That was a major reason I traded in the car. It was getting older and having more problems than it did when it was new. Also, what I mean by the Mercedes Syndrome is that because it is a relatively expensive and exotic car, service dealers tend to charge you more because they think that since you have that type of car, you can afford to pay more for service.

The non turbo engines are very reliable and most audis are more reliable than their compairable BMW's and Mercedies. the A4 and 3 series are about equally reliable but for the bigger cars Audi is moe reliable. they are more expensive to maintain than a ford or toyota but they are on par with other cars in their class still slightly less costly than mercedies but about the same as a Lexus or BMW. They are not that rare anymore when the Audi Made the 4000 there were less than 70,000 audis sold in the US and that dropped to only 25000 cars in the late 80's they sold 262,000 in 2006 only 10000 less than bmw and they have posted record sales most of this year. even for late 90's cars you will find plenty of aftermarket partsand service is not that hard to find anymore either most german specialist shops can service audis now.
