If this question even floats into your mind, you're obviously having SOME doubts about what you're doing. Instead of asking if you know what you're doing is NOT right, here's what right should feel like:
- constant optimism
- feeling of completion / usefulness
- happy with yourself
- happy with the world
- it just feels natural and good, like nothing you could do could be better

so if it doesn't feel like anything of the above, it might be time to move on and accept change. taking initiative to do so is one of the hardest things in life, to come to terms that everything is wrong and you need to do something about it. good luck!

When every part of your life is in turmoil and you are not happy from your career, to your loved life to your family to your general well being in life.

Especially when you have a job that you dislike so but you need to pay the bills and support yourself and are afraid to risk another life a different path when the path you have taken is all you know and you are not sure what it is that you are suppose to be doing how many people unless extremely talented and gifted can say this and even they are lost in their lives because things do not go the way they want even if they have the talent the gift or the love and passion for what they are doing :)))

This is called FATE.You may give effort to prepare for what are you're meant to do in life, but it will most probably end up with you are doing what you're meant to do in life.

I believe when God created us, we were each instilled with a particular set of likes and dislikes, talents and faults.

I also believe those talents and likes will lead us to what we were MEANT to do. Looks no further than the simple things that make you smile and find a way to use those gifts.

If you're meant to do it, you're going to enjoy learning about "it", performing "it" and general using your particular gift or gifts often.

Once you find that niche, you'll know that is what you were meant to do. :)

There is no MEANT TO. There are choices made and choices to be unmade. There is wisdom or benightedness and that condition results from choices. It feels more significant when there is MEANT TO and seeking significance is a strong motivator. MEANT TO is also a delusion. The universe is entirely neutral and we decide which causes to make and effects to have.

Beause if I were meant to be doing something, I would be doing it. Taoism teaches that regret and aspiration can only lead to disappointment and/or temporary satisfaction, so we should be satisfied with the universe unfolding the way it is.

Your question falls to pieces if it is analyzed to it's roots. The assumption 'meant to' is unsustainable since there is no bench mark or preordained set of things which we should do. The essence of being human is in becoming..growing and moving. When we set out parameters and guidelines to how or what we should be doing then that originality or experience is shattered.

One answer said, "The assumption 'meant to' is unsustainable since there is no bench mark or preordained set of things which we should do."

That answer is only true if there is no God. The word, "meant" implies an intelligence and a plan.

So if we reject God we have to also reject all purpose and meaning and worth. Things that serve no purpose have no worth.

If we reject God, we must invent activities that will earn us praise so we'll feel good about ourselves. The real and imagined praise of others gives us a feeling of worth, but it's only a feeling. We have to deceive ourselves into thinking that it is real.

But if we accept that God might exist, then our real purpose must be to seek Him.

I have a pygmy in my gut who yanks on the root of my belly button when I'm doing something I'm not supposed to. If I'm doing the right thing, he stays quiet and things go smooth.
