I want to start a bank account so I can save for things like Student Fees and a car or gas money. I'm tuning 16 in January. But, can I get a checking account and 15 w/a debit card or check book. I don't want a credit card till I'm 15 but can I get one? Any useless information relating to the subject will be much appreciated, thank you.

Talk to a customer service rep. in the bank you want to do business with. If I'm right I think you can get a savings account with a debit card. Check it wouldn't hurt. You can also call the bank to get your information. Good Luck.

You can open an account in ICICI Bank as a Young Star account. This account is for under 18 age. The initial deposit will be Rs.2,500/-. They will provide International Debit Card also. Through this account you can apply for a Credit Card also. For further details go through the below link:

It depends on the bank. I had to be on my sons account because he is underage but my bank would not give him a debit card. The bank down the road would but I still had to be on the account.
