D. Gandhi's entire life (after law school) was devoted to change by passive resistance and civil disobedience (with no violence). By staging sit downs, boycotts, and peaceful protest, reguardless of the British reprisals against him and the people, he wore down the British resistance to change. His greatest achievement was in uniting the mixed people of India into a cohesive group with one cause.
