I need to loose weight, BUT I cant by the time I have my interveiw because it is less than a week away, and I need to loose forty pounds! haha!
Anyway...I am 5'2 and I weigh 165 pounds........so, Im short and chubby....and its hard to find things that look good on me! Plus...I dont have tons of money to spend, but I have a little! Where should I go, and what sorts of peices should I buy?

Simple is better. Black pants or skirt and jacket with a simple top or blouse always works well.

Keep the jewelry, makeup and hair simple and classic too.

Black hose and pumps. Nothing strappy.

I would get an A-line skirt, that comes just above the knee. Wear a blazer/suit jacket that cinches at the waist, esentially creating an hourglass figure. You should wear comfortable shoes, but still remain fashionable. Flats are "in" right now, or you could wear a low kitten heel. If you're up for it, go all the way with some taller pumps or something of that sort. I wouldn't do patterns, solid colors are better. Anyways, don't worry about your appearance. I'm sure the interviewer wants you for your personality and ability! Wear something that makes you feel confident, and you will be fine. Good luck, and hope you get the job! :]

i'm sorry i forgot to mention where to shop. i would reccomend somewhere that doesn't specialize entirely in plus sizes. Some of the styles at Nordstrom or Macy's should suit you well.
here is a picture of an a-line skirt if you want to see an idea: http://www.bluefly.com/pages/products/detail.jsp?referer=NSA&cm_mmc=NSA-_-na-_-na-_-homepage&FOLDER%3c%3eEfolder_id=9796031&N=9788861&PRODUCT%3c%3eprd_id=2006868003&nsa=1

Wear something simple and loose-fitting that was made well. Too-tight clothes send the wrong message on anybody in any situation.

The prevailing wisdom is that dark colors are slimming but I do not agree with this: It's more important to wear a color that looks good on you. If that happens to be black or navy blue, great, but depending on your age and your coloring, those colors might not be the best.

Also consider wearing shoes with a good size heel on them to give yourself some height -- unless you feel really uncomfortable wearing them.

Also, I wouldn't stress too much about the outfit. Put more emphasis on preparing answers for the interview. Unfortunately, an outfit alone can't get you the job.

Your weight has nothing to do with you looking professional. First of all, you must maintain an overall well kept physical bearing-hair, make up, clothes. In choosing clothes there are now shops specializing in big sizes and offer suitable outfits for different body shapes.Clothing and make up also have to be age appropriate.

You don't have to be on the dark side in choosing clothes. The secret is in the mixes and matches. Black is obsolete although safe. Be fun and appropriate and apply moderation.

The way you carry yourself when you walk makes impact too. Keeping a straight posture and gait adds to the look. Be confident, talk with conviction, shake hands firmly. And always smile.

One word: Blazer. A blazer looks good with everything and on everyone. I am also a chubby girl and a blazer automatically slims me. I have one black one and one jean one and I alternate them as needed. You can wear it with a pencil skirt and heels, or a pair of slacks and ballet flats, or even jeans (although I wouldn't suggest jeans for the job interview). The best part is, it doesn't really matter what you wear under it on top. Just throw on a t-shirt or tank top. You could match the blazer to a pair of pants you already have, but really, not matching is stylish today. I wear my black one with a pair of navy slacks all the time and I will wear it with my new khaki pencil skirt too. The best part is, you really don't have to buy anything else, as long as you have a pair of slacks or a skirt on hand.

Go for a suit, you really can't beat it.

Dark colors are slimming, as are pinstripes. Don't go for the traditional black. Other dark colors can camoflauge just as well and make you stand out(in a good way!). Try plum, charcoal or chocolate brown.

Underneath the suit opt for a button-up shirt rather than a shell or cami, trust me it will hold things in better.

Go for a pantsuit rather than a skirt suit (unless you happen to have rockin' legs!) and go for pants that are long enough to nearly skim the floor. This will make you look long and lean. Cuffed pants are great as well if you can find them, they draw attention to your lower extremity making you look taller and smaller!

Heels are a must, but don't go strappy. Keep the shoes conservative to keep that professional look. Don't be afraid of color though, it can draw attention away from body flaws.

Good luck at your interview!

Wear dark colors, long lines, no pockets, no fringes or lacey tops, the plainer the better. A long black skirt a little lower than knee, nice top, no cleavage, worn with ot without blazer, no pockets. Accessorise to make up for it. Nice earrings, hair up and away from face, clean makeup, sensible shoes, nice purse, manicure, no heavy perfume.

DOTS is a good source, nice slacks too will work. Just keep it simple. Dress like you are going to an FBI convention.

Ok, lucky you, I am actually taking a class in college right now called Oral Communication in the Workplace. We are taught by a very successful business-woman, and she just told us what to wear to look professional:

-If you have long hair, put it in a nice, sleak ponytail. If it is short, style it.
Try to straighten it, it looks more professional (if its not already straight).

-Must wear make-up. If you don't, it shows that you won't go out of your way for them. Not heavy makeup, just lipstick, blush, or whatever you think you need..nothing too heavy though.

-Wear a skirt that hits the knee or lower. Women can get away with a lot more colors in business than man can..choices of colors: black, navy, maroon, olive, brown, beige, dark gray..most dark colors work. navy is the MOST professional color.

-keep accessories to a minimum. nothing loud, nothing that will be distracting. you want to be the center of attention, not the jewelry

-wear heels, 2.5-3 inch

- have clean, polished nails
-wear pantyhose

-wear a blazer with your skirt, or a nice blouse. but blazers are very highly recommended

Try shopping in Macy's, or another department store. Check out their juniors, or petites department (since you are short). They have nice, inexpensive things. The juniors dept. especially is reasonably priced, they dont sell suits altogether, but they sell separates that can be put together. they are mostly black though, which is good. but navy is the most professional color.

Good luck! E-mail me if you need more advice!

Remember to walk in confidently, SMILE!, sit up straight, go for a handshake, and prepare some answers to possible questions.

If you have these stores ( Ashley Stewart, Lane Bryant, or Fashion Bug) in your area, look on the clearance racks, normally the prices are affordable. If you have a stores named Dots or Ross in your area check them out, you should be able to buy something nice for 30 bucks or under. Wear Navy or Black bottoms and a plain top.
