Nothing ..... These last 5 years the government has took in record breaking revenue , our Country has never before in the entire history taken in so much money , Throwing more money at the problems is not the answer , kicking the @ss of those who are mismanaging our money , and blowing our money are the things needed to be eliminated , for example if congress approves 20 billion dollars for farmers ( which they did ) ..the top 10 richest companies who own a farming franchise will get he money , not the poor family man .... Remember the minimum wage increase , Ted Kennedy wanted this bill real bad , not for those poor working people who make low wages , but because that bill gave his private company 2.5 million dollars to off set his loss from having to pay workers more ..Now wasn't that nice ???
If they eliminated all the DCBS ( DC bullsh*t ) there would be plenty there to take care of more kids , give pay increases to our Military , Transit systems only get federal grants it should be up to each state to keep that up , look at NYC they make millions per day on the toll roads , yet have some of the worst roads in the nation , California has one of the largest state income revenues , and their roads suck as well , Schools, Libraries , Police , and Prisons , could apply for federal help , but there agian it is up to individual States to do this , sports stadiums I do not think any tax payer money should go for this , it should be up to the NFL , MBL and those guys , I personally do not watch or go to sporting events , so why should my money be put into a stadium ? Organizations can still pay business taxes etc. for the staduims , just like if I had a business , state and local taxes do not help me build my business , why should what I pay in go to a multi billion dollar franchise ??

I will not be willing to support any tx raise until we prioritze spoending correctly.
First should come the major infrastructure, like police, fire and roads.
So real crime issues get money first, like officer pay and jails and gang programs. Hire enough fire fighters and fix the damn roads. Then Education, real fundamentals not some silly program designed to encourage some non English speaker to not learn English.
Then if there is any money left over then we can get everybody's pet projects that have no real value, and then if wee need more money we can put a ballot initiative to raise taxes for the superfluous that somebody believes is important. and if they make a good enough case, then they win there tax.
But the current system, where they fund every thing except the important items, and then say we need to raise taxes or we are going to let people out of jail, is just plain extortion.

The question is wrong, as noted above if you wish to increase the amount of money the government collects, lower taxes. Then cut the spending side on programs that don't help and support our republic. First to cut would be the department of Education. Second implement the fair tax, we could fire the entire IRS and still collect more money than those goons ever thought of robbing from the American workers. With the fair tax the worker decides how much in taxes he wishes to pay, and can earn as much money as he has the ability and ambition to earn!

Your question assumes that the default way to increase govt. revenue is to increase taxes. It is a faulty premise and has been disproved by every single solitary president who has ever lowered taxes only to discover a huge increase in revenue to the govt. The real trick is to get them to halt the spending in the wake of such tax revenue windfalls. Then we can break out the wish list.

Wait. before we go raising taxes, let us make sure first that the money that is being raised is being spent properly, that the programs are necessary and really working to the best of their abilities

All of the above are good causes...except for schools. We need to stop throwing money at that bloated budget and start trimming the overpaid administrators.
As for raising taxes, I am not willing for any of these reasons. We do not need to raise taxes, we need to stop spending on pork barrel projects. We need to stop funding transvestite beauty pageants (YES ON TAX PAYER DOLLARS) disguised as AIDS awareness rally. Govt. waste is at an insane level. If we cut the waste, we could cut taxes dramatically and INCREASE revenue.

I really don't think they need to be raised except to pay for this war. Stop giving money away to other countries. We don't have to be big brother just because we have in the past and now it is expected. hell, if everyone hates us, tell them to piss off when they have a tragedy. Stupid crap like helping to rebuild Lebanon after our allies tore it up, a billion dollar 4 wheeler on Mars. Helping big oil. They sure as hell do not need our help. Gouging is making them record profits. We just need to stop the waste. Overhaul the social programs so only the deserving get it.

I think we should manage money smarter and not encourage waste by increasing taxes every time some political hack gets a wild hair.
