I am addicted to putting ice in my mouth and swallowing it. It's a very extreme habit, I do it at school, when I get my break at work, at home, etc. I just buy a soda, throw the liquid away and start 'eating' the ice. I even fill a cup with ice before I go to bed, take the ice cubes and just pop them into my mouth. Everyday, I ingest soooo much ice, I need to know if this is harmful. Thank you.

Are you anemic? I don't know if it is medically linked to being anemic, but I always heard that eating lots of ice was a sign. This is so not good for your teeth, but mine are just fine b/c I take good care of them. I love ice too and I eat it nearly every single day also. I am severely anemic so that's why I wondered.

I have always heard that crunching ice is bad for pitting your teeth. I think that is the only thing that would be harmful, unless you inhaled a cube down your windpipe...

Well, it seems you like the coolness of sucking or chewing ice.

Next time, you buy a soda, dun throw the liquid away. Pass it to someone who wants it.

You need to see your doc and get a blood test. Eating excess ice can be a sign of anemia.

I would discuss this with your doctor. An addiction of any type like this COULD be inappropriate for your heath.
