Divid top line by bottom line:-
1 / 2 = 0.5
1 / 4 = 0.25
3 / 4 = 0.75
9 / 10 = 0.9
etc

Converting a fraction to a decimal is just a matter of long division.... And knowing when the decimals end up repeating.

Consider the example in the following Wikipedia article showing how to convert 3/7 into decimal form:

rewrite the fraction in terms of a number of 100. then the decimal will be that number, with the decimal place shifting 2 to the left.

ex. 7/100 = .07

Divide the top number by the bottom number.
So, if you have a fraction of 1/2, you divide 1 by 2, for an answer of .5

take the numerator (top number) divided by the denominator (bottom number) and here u go! a decimal!

eg: 1/4 = 0.25
