I couldn't agree with you more..
It seems that if you're promoting christian values you should also be promoting the assistance of those less fortunate...isn't this what Christ did?

Finally !!!!!!!!!! Someone with some since ! I am sick and tired of the media and alot of christians claiming that you have to be a republican to support your christian beliefs . I am a christian and a staunch democrat . You have to pay taxes if you can even hope to have social security , medicare and welfare . And I personally don't see how you can say that you are a christian and condone the killing and even murder of thousands of people in a war . Since when is war the christian thing to do ? ( Especially a war that was started under false pretenses . ) How long are we supposed to sit back and keep pretending that our president didn't intentionally lie to the American people so that he could have his war ? These same so -called christians will lead you to believe that Clinton was almost the anti - christ , yet we enjoyed 8 years of peace and a steady , strong economy .

It is not so much paying taxes that I, as a Christian, complain about: hey, when I get tax return I get a good size check from our dearly beloved, and sometimes be loathed, uncle (Sam) in Washington DC.
Yes, I do belong to another group of people called the working class!
Now, my gripe is this; why does the left say I'm rich when I only average $25000.00 (Twenty five thousand) a year.
All I can say is this; I don't believe that my money should go to a crack whore that keeps spewing out babies so that she can get more money out the welfare system that should be revamped, or done away with altogether.
Yes, I believe in helping others out, but, I do not believe that I should be taken advantage of.
Also, one other thing, NOT ALL RIGHT WINGERS ARE NOT
ARE ACTUALLY PRACTICING CHRISTIANS!
Another gripe; why does the left proclaim "freedom of speech!" While in their very own hypocrisy, try to deny me
of my own?!!

The Christian right is against welfare, Medicare, and social security taxes because they're unconstitutional. A person has a right to maintain and preserve his own property. And yet, by these programs, the government is forcibly removing people's property and giving it to others. It is not the government's job to play Robin Hood: it's job is to protect its citizens. Christians advocate charity: but when charity is forced on people, it's an entirely different story.

And personally, I don't think that my hard-earned money should be forcibly removed from me in order to pay for another person's health/education/etc. If I want to give money to charities, I'll give from my own free will. I just don't want the government taking my money. Sure, we should give money to those who are less fortunate. God would want us to do that. But are you going to hold up your neighbor at gunpoints and force him to give 100 bucks to the homeless guy on the street? no. Why? because you have no right to take his money or tell him what to do. The same thing applies, on a much larger scale, to the government.

Besides, government-enforced charity takes away the whole idea of charity itself. It takes away people's responsibility.

Lets see... I'm right wing, and proud. Oh, and I work. And, I pay taxes. I do not mind paying for roads, I use them. Or elementary education, I used that, my children will as well. I don't mind paying for social security, although I may not see it. I figure those that have gone before me deserve something. I do not feel that is wrong to help the "truly" disabled or downtrodden. However, when my tax dollars go to pay for the people on well fare and food stamps that I typically see on the street, I can not keep my mouth closed. There needs to be better filters. I have made many felony arrests for people that my tax dollars go to. While there are honest people who scrape by. I do not complain about the taxes per-say. I do complain about the way the taxes are handed out.

Christians donate to the church and the church takes care of its parishioners.

Same thing as the government taking taxes for social programs but there are two HUGE differences:

#1 the Church programs are more efficient and effective

#2 the people GIVE voluntarily. The Govmnt takes from everyone.

We do not complain about paying taxes for those who NEED HELP. We do complain about programs which are poorly designed (like welfare which punishes those who try to improve their situation) or those who we should not be paying for (like those too lazy to work or those who CHOOSE...yes it is a choice...to be drug addicts)

Give a man a fish, and he will eat once. Teach him to fish, and he will eat forever. The liberals want to give fish over and over to those who will not even try to fish for themselves.

eric...I have to admit, your rant made me laugh. "Allow children to be beaten in schools" The claims of the left never cease to amuse me. As for taking health care from children. NOBODY LOST HEALTH CARE WHEN BUSH VETOED THAT BILL. There were a lot of people who did not get added to the free health care, (such as illegals and those who could afford it themselves) but nobody lost it.

3D...Let's not get into "fair share" I pay more in taxes per year than the average family in Manhattan earns. I give twice as much to charity than I give to the govt. You read anything ever written on success by someone who is truly wealthy, and there is a common theme..."GIVE BACK". You REALLY need to read "Who Really Cares" it would be a great eye opener for you...and it is documented and indisputable facts.

They're the kind of christians that only want the government to work for them in particular.

Cops and prisons ok, that protects their property.

Social services no good. You can't drive wages down to nothing if people have an alternative other than starving.

Christianity and taxes are unrelated. Christianity promotes VOLUNTARY charity to the needy. Nothing in the christian faith holds that the government had the right to seize and redistribute any ones wealth or property, which taxes in fact do. Your argument is spurious and based upon faulty assumptions.

what does one have to do with the other? Perhaps we don't like having to pay for people that don't have the will to go out and actually work for a living. A hand up is better than a hand out.

there is nothing wrong with paying taxes. there is something wrong when you have lazy people using tax dollars that they are not entitled to. social security was never meant to be your full retirement fund. you should save money while working. social security is a hedge to add to your savings. however people are to stupid and greedy to save money for retirement.
