2 x^-4 = (1/648)
can also be given as
2/x^4 = (1/648)
taking 2 to the other side
1/x^4 = 1/(648*2)

1/x^4 = 1 /(2*2*2*2*3*3*3*3)
1/x^4 = 1/ (2^4 * 3^4)
or
1/x^4 = 1/6^4

Whenever you are solving for "x", you must always get it by itself. That means you have to move all the numbers to the other side of the equal sign. To move a number to the other side, you must do the opposite operation. Adding becomes subtracting, multiplying becomes dividing.

2x^-4=(1/648)

I want to move the 2 to the other side. To do that I must do the opposite operation. The 2 is multiplying, so when I move it to the other side, it becomes dividing.

x^-4 = (1/648) / 2

If I want to do 1/648 divided by 2, I must reciprocate (flip) the 2 into 1/2 and then multiply.

x^-4 = (1/648) x 1/2
x^-4 = 1/1296

Now x^-4 = (1 / x)^4 so:

(1 / x)^4 = 1/1296

Now take the 4th root on both sides.

1 / x = 4root (1/1296)

1 / x = 1 / 6

Flip both sides and you will get your answer:

x = 6

rewrite as:

2 / (x^4) = 1 / 648. multiply right side by 2/2 = 1

2/ (x^4) = 2 / 1296. the numerators are equal, so you can now compare denominators directly.

x^4 = 1296
x = 1296 ^ (1/4)

2x^-4= 1/648
(1/2x)^4 = 1/ 648
1/16x^4 = 1/648
648 = 16x^4
648/16 = x^4
x = (81/2)^(1/4)
x = 2.523
