Excellent health & the high level of physical and mental energy that would go along with it.
Actually, people who smoke do it in part because of the immediate benefit they get as addicts - mental clarity and alertness. It's one of those opportunity-cost choices so many of us are terrible at making, where you choose between a moderate but immediate tangible gratification, and future benefits that aren't as well-defined. Like the kids in the study where they were given a chocolate and got to choose between eating it now, or saving it for tomorrow and being rewarded with another one. Apparently many perceive the immediate gratification as greater or more certain because it is closer. That was correlated with "IQ" in the study, I believe; but I think it's more likely to be directly a combination of emotional training and nature.

For my biggest dream to come true.
PS Giving up smoking is not worthy of 5 years of life!

What would I give up 5 years of my life for? Hhmmmm...
That's pretty easy. I would give up 5 years of my life to get back my health. That would actually GIVE me about 40 to 50 more years to live.
Coooool.

I have a bad back, and just to not be in pain for even a day, would be worth five years of my life.

So much... To stop hunger, poverty, to protect human rights, world peace etc... I could go on all day! It would be to make the world a better place, and hopefully I'm doing that. My life is dedicated to helping others. I'm so blessed...

I gave up five years to a double major in Biology and English Literature. Does that count?
