I'm one of those people who thinks everyone's pretty, even if it takes some time to search for it. I haven't really thought of anyone ugly unless he/she was a terrible person.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. If you think terrible people are ugly, then it is not the case that you are a person "who thinks everyone's pretty." You think some people are pretty but you think terrible people are ugly.

Like everyone else, you have a standard of beauty/ugliness and you apply it to the people you meet. You're neither a better nor a worse person than others for having such a standard.

Yes...yes...yes... OK let me be the 'mean/ugly' person here!
If you walk through the mall and look at the way some people carry themselves as far as appearance and/or attitude is concerned there are some very ugly people.

You cannot change too much w/ what you are born with. But how you dress it up & pesent it is totally your choice. I see women that slouch, don't wear make up & put no effort into their hair style. UCK!
I see over weight ppl walking around in clothes that are 2 sizes too small just so they can say they wear a 14 instead of a 16 or 18. Yet their rolls are hanging out. Again...UCK!
I see women w/ 4 inch black roots w/ their bleach blond straggely hair.
And sorry but anyone that sports a mullet should be shot no questions asked!

Oh, I could go on...unfortunately we do not live in fairy tale land.
However, I think even an 'unattractive' person can present themself well enough as to not be considered 'ugly'.

Anyone who says that EVERYONE they look at is attractive is a freak'n liar!

Yes some people such as myself are ugly unfortunatly. From the time I was young I was told by my peers and even teachers about how disgusting I was in my looks. I did manage to find a wonderful woman who was willing to marry me but between her and her family and even our friends they often use different opportunities to remind me how lucky i am to be with her because of my body and looks. I have been willing to work hard for my wife and try to provide for her and do for her. I know really I don't derserve to be with her but I am willing to do anything for her including accepting the fact that she needs to be with other men on occasions. I am always afraid she will fall in love with one of them and I will be out but it has not happened at least yet so perhaps she does love me in some way. The true answer is yes there are people who really are ugly even though a lot of people try to be nice and say things about people being beautiful inside and such. Its not what matters to most others.

ah, someone else who sees the world thru rose coloured glasses! keep them firmly in place as long as you can sweetie!
as for your question: yes there really is such a thing as ugly people. perhaps not physically ugly but in other ways.
as for physical beauty - they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. i know it is 'cause i am not pretty, and yet my hubby thinks i am the reason the sun rises and sets!
funny isn't it? other people look at me and see my plainness and have actually wondered out loud where they can be heard why such a handsome man would have married someone like me.

I don't like to use the world "ugly," but there are plenty of people I do not consider to be attractive at all. There's a large number of people I would not want to make out with, if given the opportunity.

I'm sure many people would consider me ugly, too.

First of all, I was absolutely touched by what "wild thing" had to say. That was really sweet.

Now, in terms of strictly physical, I think the media and our society conditions us to think of certain people as "pretty" or "handsome". I'm not talking about a nice personality or being sweet that adds points to attractiveness. Only physical looks. For example, when you think of the Hollywood stars, they generally look a lot alike. Halle Berry, Beyonce, Tyra Banks, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake, George Clooney, MORRIS CHESTNUT, Denzel Wahshington--I'm not saying they individually look alike, but the follow the same prototype. I think Whoopi Goldberg is a beautiful woman, but you don't see her included on a "hottest people" show or the media's idealization of beauty.

That having been said, I also believe beaty is in the eye of the beholder. You are attracted to what you're attracted to. My last bf was 300 lbs, like 6'2. He played football. He was overweight, but solid and really hairy. My friends thought he was not attractive at all, but I thought he was handsome and a major turn-on.

In my opinion, the things that make a person look unattractive are a lack of personal care and hygeine. I don't think that being overweight even factors in because I see lots of plus size women with a man on their arm. I'm a size 10 and still ride solo. Bad breath, unkept hair, slouchy, wrinkled clothes, bad posture, dirty nails, un-peicured feet, maybe, or a body odor make people unattractive. As long as we care for ourselves, I think we all look fine. Everybody isn't a MORRIS CHESTNUT or a Halle Berry, but we are all beautiful. I used to not think I was pretty, but when I worked on my confidence, I gained many points on the attractiveness scale.

Now, I agree with you too; a nasty attitude will make anyone unattractive (excpet MORRIS CHESTNUT). :) However, these are my thoughts on straight physical beauty.

ah i believe there are i believe that the only ugly person is one who is on the inside, people who use people are out to get ahead no matter who they step on. You cant tell true beauty by the outer shell it is what is onthe inside that counts,

i love the movie shallow hal, what happens to him is how everyone should be seen

i quite agree, true ugliness start on the inside and works it's way out it has nothing to do with appearances. Much like evil, it hides in the deepest recesses of darkness, where the sun never shines, it thrives on hate, greed and jealousy, and spreads to peoples minds.

Ugly? Tune in Randy Newman and listen to him sing. He understands ugly and can talk about it with you using music.
Of his work I liked, "Political Science" and "You Can Keep Your Hat On", but I'm ugly so what do I know?
