As someone who did get involved with a professor when I was in college, my VERY strong advice is to not pursue any kind of intimacy with this man. If he is flirting with you, it is completely inappropriate. We get crushes on people who we admire, your crush is completely natural. It's also really great for the ego to have a professor (especially a hot one) pay attention to you. In my case, my professor actually pursued me and I was flattered and ended up being involved with her for several years. It was a terrible mistake, she was controlling, dishonest and manipulative and apparently had had affairs for years with other students. Anyone who abuses their power by dating their students has serious issues (it is unethical, and in most cases professors can be fired for getting involved with students)

The age difference is less a problem than the fact that you are a student and he is your professor.

Go out with boys...or girls...you meet at school or out in the world...stay busy and focus on your school work, friends, hobbies, dating...steer clear of this guy.

Ugh. I really doubt that anything positive can come out of that situation. Let's set aside the fact that you are16 years apart in age... He's your professor. Most universities have rules that their faculty cannot date or have relations with their students. My advice: Find a nice guy your own age and leave the professor to your studies.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to "stop" feeling like that. Some people can latch onto a different person for their "crush", but that's few & far between. It also isn't healthy. I suggest you just keep things in perspective & focus on your classes. If it helps you to pay attention in class, then it can't be all bad.
