I'm kinda new to riding the bus in the Seattle area, and I've invested in a bus pass. But it's the $1.25, off peak PugetPass, and I ride the bus during peak hours some days. So, what do I do? Will the pass still be valid even though it's not the right fare amount?

If you're just riding in and around Seattle, proper, you'll just need to pay a quarter more during peak hours. Fortunately, the $1.25 pass is good for all trips on Metro during off-peak hours and all 1-zone Community Transit fares all the time. If you're travelling 2-zones on Metro during peak hours, it'll be another $0.75 (2-zone travel on Metro is $2), but if most of your travel isn't during peak hours, you're best off with the $1.25 pass. On the other hand, if the majority of your trips are during peak hours, you might want the $1.50 (or $2 if you travel 2-zone) pass.

If you use the pass during peak hours, you just pay the difference between the off-peak and peak fares. Get some quarters, and you'll be all set to go :-)

Keep some quarters in your pocket.

If the fare is $1.50 (one zone peak metro transit), use your pass, and put a quarter in the fare box.

If you ride sound transit and the fare is $2.50, use your pass and put $1.25 in the fare box.

I'll leave the rest of the math as an exercise for the reader.

you would use your pass and pay the difference in the fare in change.
