No. I believe in this one: If you love something, set it free. If it doesn't come back, hunt it down and kill it.

Sometimes we believe in what we WANT to be true. Quotes come from everyday things that people experience and what worked for someone might not work for you or me. I do believe that quote though. However, why would you let someone go if you love them and they love you back? If they don't, or they think they don't, they might come back after realizing that you were best for them. Or they might find someone that they think is better and never even remember you. So go figure!

to a point. You can't make anyone stay with you, so you pretty much have to let them go- even if you love them. If you're lucky, they eventually come back, but if they don't, then you're better off having them gone. You wouldn't want to hold on to someone who doesn't really love you, would you?

I believe the quote you're thinking about is:

"If you love something set it free. If it doesn't come back, hunt it down and kill it." ; )

Yes. But letting something go and pushing it away are different things. Letting something go is not trapping it. Pushing something away is forcing it to leave.

Sure, but don't try that with parrots. It gets expensive to find one that loves you.
