Why on EARTH didn't Aramis Ramirez run to first on that wild-pitch strike out? He stood there watching, and the announcers never even mentioned it. Bizarre.

The batter may attempt advancing to first base when a third strike pitch is not caught only when (a) first base is unoccupied or (b) there are two outs, regardless of baserunners.

Running otherwise wouldn't help him get on base, and if it catches a teammate on first by surprise and he tries to advance, he can be put out.

Because there was already someone on first base, and they weren't going to run to second since that would risk them getting out. It wouldn't have been worth it. Obviously Ramirez would have been out at first anyway. Oh well it doesn't matter, the games tied!!!! WOOO!!!!!!

He's was too busy thinking about his home run trot and celebration.

The Cubs lack fundamentals in many areas.
