These radio personalities are advertising themselves as the first "gay" radio program. And they're trying to find ways to increase the number of openly gay personalities in the media.

But when I turn on the radio or news, I'm looking to hear music, news, or weather. I don't give a %$#! about the sexual preferences of the newscaster.

It seems like gay people always assume that everyone is interested in their sexual preference. It's none of my business. You don't hear me going around telling everyone "I'm straight!" so why do gay people go around telling everyone they're gay? I don't hate gay people. I just don't care. And it annoys me that they think I care.

I'm not interested in hearing about other peoples' sex lives. And I definitely don't want my kid hearing about peoples' sex lives

Well, to be fair, everyone should recognize the fact that not all homosexuals/bisexuals are like this. But I do understand where you're coming from and totally agree that making an issue of sexuality causes more harm than not. This issue is sort of comparable to race issue in that it's ridiculous to "call out" your identity while demanding that others not do so.
~~~Proud to be black, but damn all who are proud to be white. Proud to be homo/bi, but damn all who are proud to be hetero.~~~
Makes no sense!
I definitely don't mean to offend anyone. I hope I'm making my point clear in a non-offensive manner. I am merely trying to express that we should all embrace our fellow person regardless of our identity (whether it's a matter of sexuality, religion, "race", gender, or what-have-you...). In other words, group identification shouldn't matter. Why should we feel the need to announce our group identification? How does doing as such serve any purpose with regards to seeking (or claiming to seek) equality? You raise an excellent point.
I get tired of all the in your face like it or not. This actually hurts them more than they think. I have had a few close friends who are homosexuals, and they didn't behave like the majority of them do. They were more accepted into the social circles that we were in. I do not need their sexual preferences shoved into my face to know they exist and are walking amongst us.
Today the little 7 year old boy I nanny for asked me if I knew what gay means. I said it means happy. He said no, it means you like someone who is the same as you are. My friend and I kissed in the library on the lips because we are gay.
Underdog syndrome. Protestors, Homosexuals, Over zealous religious fanatics, most vegans and pretty much anyone with a different life preference all share in the same disorder. They love letting you know that they're different from everyone else. Makes them feel special and important, but in reality, everyone hates it.
Maybe you don't care if someone is gay, but some people are really homophobic. I think that the reason why they think that they have to let everyone know, is because they have felt so alone for a long time, and now they don't have keep any secrets. So they have pride in being different. It's an identity, that's different from most.
it is like affirmative action for gay people - straight people are still in majority are very much against them so they are trying to introduce into the cultural psyche that gay people are everywhere and it is normal. eventually if people do get used to it and there won't be such an outlash against sexuality it will go away. also it helps to raise ratings with gays and women :)
You got it right on the money. Your pet peeve is shared by many. This type of behavior is just an attention-getting ploy.
