I just recently found out that I'm pregnant, however, it's still too early for an ultrasound. Judging by my last menstraton I'm 6wks, but by my "possible" concieved date, I'd be at 4wks.

When I tell my friends and family how far along I am, which do I use? Because I've been looking a t a lot of on-line sights and I want to have a pretty good idea of what step (or week) my body is going through.

I just found out I "might" be prgenant a few days ago when my period didn't show up. I went to my first "Primary Care" appointment... where they gave me a urine HCG and then they'll send a "referal" to an OB/GYN Doctor for my first OB appt. I'm not sure if it all works the same way in the civil and military worlds... but military wise, we have to go through all these steps. However, I'm anticipating my first appt soon. I'm not neglecting the Doctor. I just want to have a good idea of which date the websites and normally women go by.

Although you are not considered pregnant until a fertilized embryo implants in your uterine lining, pregnancy technically begins on the first day of your last menstrual cycle. Therefore you would be considered six weeks pregnant, even though conception probably occurred about four weeks ago.

A pregnancy is 280 days long which is measured by 40 weeks starting from the FIRST day of you Last Menstrual Period (LMP) even though the conception didn't happen till 2wks into the pregnancy. So you are 6wks pregnant (but 4 weeks since conception).
I have found this website to be the easiest and best to understand week by week. It has loads of information about baby, mother and father at each week in pregnancy plus pictures and links to all sorts of other baby sites.

Even though it may be too early for an ultrasound... and really it's not cause my Dr was sending me at 5 1/2 weeks... haven't you seen your Dr? My first appt. I was told I was 4 1/2 weeks and he gave me a due date.

Most of the sites I checked out were pretty close, only off by a day or so, to the due date he gave me. I am pretty sure he told me you minus 3 months from your first day of your LMP and then add a week.

Good luck.

You're probably closer to 4 weeks considering it's too early for an ultrasound. I wouldn't start sharing the good news for a little while though. Maybe 3 months or so.

It depends on how you count the weeks. I've read that dr's count from the date of your last period, and then assume a 40-week pregnancy. So, two weeks after the actual conception date, you'd actually be in your fourth week of pregnancy. I've heard this is how they calculate it because so many people didn't know their date of conception and it's easier to count from the date of the last period.

If your confused about how far along you are someone over the Internet cant tell you. One trip to the doctor will let you know the day the baby will be born +- a day or you could tell everyone your about a month.

I'd just use what the doc says. Everyone knows you can be two weeks early or two weeks late. That's only an estimated due date. You can never be exactly on the nose about it.

It goes by your last period, so you would be 6 weeks, not 4.
