I am purchasing a corn snake on friday. I will buy the following:
1 Corn Snake- 40
1 20 Gallon Long Aquarium w/ secure lid- 56
1 Basking bulb with fixture- 20
1 Under tank heating pad- 24
1 Night-Glo Black Bulb with fixture- 20
2 Half Log hides- 14
1 Large Corner Dish- 10
4 Pinkie mice- 11
1 Bag of Repti-Bark- 8
1 Digital Thermometer- 10
1 Hygrometer- 6

I have the under tank pad and the basking bulb on the same side. Is that okay? I plan for each light to be on for 12 and 12... ok? Should i get a UVA/UVB bulb or basking bulb? Does it matter? Could the UVA/UVB substitute the basking bulb? So, would the UTH, the UVA/UVB Bulb and the Black light be all the heat/light needed? What else would be good? Anything useless?

Sounds reasonable, although you should really make sure you have it all set up first, before you get the snake.

I have a California Kingsnake which I understand has similar needs to a Corn. I have found that the heat from the basking bulb is more than enough for my snake, without the need for under tank heating as well. Unless you are keeping the tank in a cold room, I doubt you will need both.

I use a 75W basking bulb by day and a 40W moonlight night glo blub at night. They are on a 12 hour cycle on an automatic timer.

I get my pinkies frozen from Rodentpro.com.

sounds like yiu have a great setup you do not need all of the different types of bulbs. If I was to pick one bulb for heat it would be thr rd bulb because reptiled do not see red and yet get the hat from it so if it needed to be on all night there would be no loss, you have the right idea all th e heat on one side of the tank so he can go and get cooled off as he likesNO UVB is needed seeings he is more noctornal meaning in the wild he is out at night not seeing much of the daylight fot there hunting time and animals that hunt in th e day are the one that need the uvb to aid in digesting ther food You alsUVB is useless for this type of animal.Oh Yeah you do not need a hydrometere that is primamrily used to measure the salinity in a fish tank.. you do need the tem gage and humidity gage the humidity is rally importan in the shed.. The one thing si do not see listed you need is a seperate little feeding tank. I t is said and studying yu should not feed your snake in his every day habitat becase when your fingers go in to take him out as a pet to hold he will mistake yur fingers for a pinchy so he never associates that get another plastic conntainer and place him i n when he is only going to get fed.. since thisi has been going on there are alot less accidental snake bites when a snake gets to big for a food holding tank I know many who do it in a bath tub just stay while he eats so he des not get outif you have any questions about this ask..
they have been knwn to hang in branches it is neat to watch so one of them in there tank would be nice good choice in snakes and sounds like over all you are set to go and will be a gteat snake owner report back here the name you are choosing and the color patern

1. They don't need heat bulbs or UVB.
2. Use aspen instead of reptibark.
3. No nightlight is needed.
4. Use a digital probe thermometer to measure the temp on the bottom of the tank over the UTH pad. It should be around 85F. Get a thermostat or dimmer switch to adjust temp. Without one, the temp can get over 100F with those pads.
Otherwise, sounds fine. You might want to add some fake plants to give him more hiding spots and they look nice.

the warmth and humidity guages are crap, you will could purchase a digital thermometer/hygrometer previously you get the snake, besides as a thermostat for the fewer than tank heater. devoid of those, you would be reading fallacious temps and risking a burn. you nonetheless have countless gaining knowledge of to do, because of the fact those 2 issues are in actuality minimum and you have not even seen getting them.

we had a corn snake for a while and I think all you really need is the bulb. if you see that your tank tempature is low still you can put the under the tank heater on there.

Bulbs and hygrometer aren't to important.

Make sure to feed it in a seperate container so whenever you reach it it won't think you will be feeding and strike you
