Too bad they did away with dueling...there's an old Texas proverb that goes "always treat everyone like a gentleman, but always let the handle of your revolver be seen ".

We have lost too much freedom , and have bigger government thanks to the libs. It started with abolishing the right to practice religion as part of our government. In God we trust.

Hamilton would turn over in his grave if he saw how we have taken the liberties he fought for and twisted them. religion was a big part of some schools at that time, for example, but we decided years later that he was wrong and religion should be banned. Laws were passed then because they were the right things to do and not because of lobbyists. Our forefathers believed in a weak central government of strong states and now we have a strong central government imposing federal laws which are not always consistent with what the states themselves want.
Certainly there were some things they had to learn such as abolishing dueling, abolishing slavery and so on but we need to go back and learn things from them, the rights of states as opposed to the federal government.

less, we are way more democratic and accepting today than we were when Hamilton was alive. also, we're not dueling left and right with people who insult us.
