Sure, but I find it hard to believe that in a world of over 6 billion people, there are those that say they found their soul mates in high school, college, or right down the street.

No. The survival of the species depends on this not being true. I believe we can fall in love with anyone at any given moment, given the right set of circumstances. Whether we are predisposed to "fall for a certain type" or we're waiting for the royal charming siblings, the opportunity to fall in love is always present. We then convince ourselves, sometimes momentarily, that we have met our 'soul mate' (until the next one comes along).
Some people are too weak-willed to open up to the perceived soul mate(s), and thus wind up alone.

I used to. I loved him so much and we seemed compatible in every way. One day he went on a trip to visit his college buddies and came back acting strange. Few months later he suggested we live apart.
He eventually told me that he wanted to split and a few months later I guess he married his soul mate.

Yeah Doc, I believe they do. And when you are lucky enough to find them it truly is an experience like non other. As perfect harmony as there is to be had here.
