No two women are alike after giving birth. Some have light bleed ing for a few days some two weeks. I had pretty heavy bleeding, like a period for 2 weeks. As for the smell, that is normal as well, I remember the same thing, it is old blood and tons of healing. Give it another week or two, your body just went through allot! and it needs to heal. If bleeding becomes extremely heavy, have strong pain(more than now) the smell is very offencive, or have green discharge, then you can see a Dr. Try to soak your lower half in a sitz bath or tub With saline solution a(salt water) a few times a day, this aids in healing. Congratulations and good luck!

After birth, many women do bleed a little heavily, like a period. Over a few days to a few weeks, this bleeding tapers off and just becomes spotting. That is normal!
Blood can smell foul, and sometimes wounds can smell foul if there is an infection. If you are worried about a foul smell, that would need a doctors advice, because that can be a sign of an infection.
ALSO, even if you exclusively breastfeed, you can still have a period return at 6-8 post partum, so if you have more bleeding during this time, it could very well be your period.

Usually the first few days are heaviest and dark red then it lightens to a brown pink then more to white. Yes I find it has a different odor than a regular period. You really should be taking showers instead of baths if you had an episiotomy. Bathtubs can harbor bacteria that will multiply with the warmth of the water. You should also use a squirt bottle and squirt warm water over your perineum after you urinate and than only blot dry very gently. If you notice any redness, swelling or thick white to yellow drainage let your dr. know. If you're worried about go see your dr anyway. Better to be safe than sorry. Congratulations and good luck

As a healthcare provider I can tell you that the discharge going away at this stage is normal. However, a foul odor is not. Give a call to you OB provider and tell them. They will probably want to check it out. Is this odor different than what it has been from the birth? The discharge after birth has a usual and distinctive odor that usually goes away as the discharge goes away. If it's smelling different....have it checked. Quickly, if you are feeling bad or running a fever.

Yes.. all of that is normal. The smell is just normal smell of the afterbirth (the lining and blood left in there after birth) with a mix of leukhorrea. It will change from bloody to more of a brown and even a yellow before it completely stops. Hope this helps!

I do not consider that is precise. I have nine youngsters elderly from 25 to forty six. I am an avid reader and actually constantly saved a e-book near to hand to learn whilst I nursed my toddlers. (About my handiest quiet time!) My eyes are pleasant, actually now I typically learn a e-book an afternoon. Courteously pay attention for your mom and simply attempt to restrict your studying and TV just a little she is round is my recommendation. We older persons love to supply recommendation however that doesn't imply we're constantly correct! With a brand new child I am definite you are going to be plenty of "recommendation". Take what feels correct however do your possess factor. Don't hesitate to invite for recommendation however that doesn't imply you constantly have comply with it.
