By the time you are 12 weeks pregnant your risk drops to nearly zero. At 8 weeks your chances are pretty good for not miscarrying, but not as good as when you are a little further along.
I worry every time I'm pregnant, just like you. I think every mom does and no one can tell you not to. Just be glad of every pregnancy symptom you are experiencing because every one tells you all is well with the baby.

I receive heaps of emails with weekly updates, my one from babycentre.com informed me that the chance of miscarriage decreases dramatically during the 8th week as most of the major organs have already begun to form. I had never heard this any where else but it offered me a huge sense of relief as I am also 8 weeks!
I think 12 weeks is generally the rule though.... don't worry I know how difficult it is having to get thru another 3 and a half weeks of worry but just relax if you are not cramping or bleeding, I guess you have nothing to worry about so try to enjoy your pregnancy :) When are you due? Im due May 10 it seems forever away!!!!!

Up until the end of the first trimester, the pregnancy is managed by the baby, pretty much, and this is a critical time for fetal development. This is why most miscarriages happen during this time (approximately 90% of lost pregancies occur in the first trimester). During this time the corpus luteum on the ovary provides the extra progestrone needed to sustain the pregnancy.
By the end of the first trimester the fetus pretty much has everything in place, it's then just a matter of growing and maturing, and the placenta takes over homrome production which is a lot more reliable and thus on both counts the pregnancy has a much better chance of making it.

Doctors consider the risk *mostly* over once you've passed the 12 week mark. I only ever knew one woman who miscarried when she was 5 months along. Your chances are highest up until the 12th week, so try to take it easy and not worry yourself over nothing for the next 4 weeks. If it happens, it happens (not to sound crude) but there's nothing you can do but take care of yourself.

On average, the risk lessens after the 12 week mark. 1 in 3 pregnancies will end in miscarriage.
I had one at 11 weeks, a friend at 12. Another lost hers at 16 weeks. A family friend's baby died after their 40 week appointment, they were supposed to go back in a week for the induction to have the baby.
I am not trying to scare you, it's just that it is possible and you can lose a baby at any time.

I even have had 4 miscarriages, 3 of them have been like approximately 5 weeks alongside, yet I did have one that died at 6 months. I pray no one else has to journey being so some distance alongside and dropping their toddler.

by the 4th month you are out of the woods, but like anything in life there is no certainty.
My dad was a nurse and used to say from the moment your concieved you have the chance of dying, so dont worry about it. If God wants you here , youll get here. So if God wants your child here he or she is safe and thats that.

weeks 12 to 14 is when most doctors say the chances go down. how ever it can still happen after that so be careful and if your ever worried even if you think it is silly call your ob or midwife don't be shy asking them questions I AM SURE THEY HAVE HEARD IT BEFORE.
