They schedule all the playoff games at different times. This is so that there are no overlapping playoff games so that TV ratings will be highest. They schedule the east coast games (such as Yankees/Indians) in favor of east coasters. The Indians/Yankees game 1 is at 6 pm eastern time. Likewise, they schedule west coast games later, such as the Diamondbacks game 1 at 10 pm eastern time. The problem is that you are a Yankees fan in California. The east coast times will be very early for you on the west coast.

no idea but whoever it is isn't very smart. the cub fans deserve to watch their team play -- they look forward to the more than any other team b/c of the possibility of winning the series which they haven't done in almost 100 years. Same thing with Phillies fans -- havent made the playoffs since 1993 and they play at 3:30? Ridiculous. One other thing that I'm not really into is the playoffs being on TBS? what the heck?!?!? The announcers have no energy and if I have to see another commercial for "Friends" I'm gonna go nuts! So far, the MLB playoffs are off on the wrong foot!

All the games for the Indians/Yankees are at 5:00 or 6:00, you must be thinking about another series. The schedules are made by the baseball commissioner and officials, and ran through the networks for approval. With so many east coast games, they have to spread the primetime wealth or else the west teams would be playing in the morning

TBS has the pick of which games to broadcast in prime time. They are out to maximize ratings which is why the smaller city matchups like Philly-Colorado get played earlier in the day than larger city ones like Boston-LA.

MLB coordinates the schedule with the stations that are carrying the games.
