Brine solution (salt water) is more dense than pure water.
Density ~ 1.2 for 26% NaCl in water.

Here is an experiment you can try: take 1/2 a glass of water, dissolve as much table salt as possible in it and add a little food coloring. Slowly pour this solution into a larger vessel full of pure water (such as a clear pitcher etc) make certian the water in the larger container is still (not swirling around from just being filled).

yes because water molecules attach themselves to salt. Try eating a few dill pickles your weight could rise by as much as a pound.
