Standard size is 6 ft long and between the wheel wells is 4 ft.
So it should fit in a truck.

New I would say Ford Ranger for small trucks, if you want bigger Chevy is the best for trucks. Heres some used (ranger still made, can get cheap new) Ford Rangers - A good truck still produced that you can get cheap new and used. A good small truck that can last a very very very long time. I've seen some with over 500 000 km or just over 300 000 miles running good. I have friends that have some and with an extended cab you have room to have a good stereo system in. Oh yeah The mazda B-Series is a ranger. The ranger also uses a mazda trans, so if you support foreign, this version could be for you. Chevy/GMC S10/Sonoma - Just like rangers they last a very long time, and you can do a lot to them. I've seen some with 305's and 350 v8's in them. They can rip and hual, and reliable. I would have to go with chevy/gmc as they tend to make some of the best trucks around.

The standard pickup bed is 5' wide, but only 4' between the fender wells. And 8' long. Unless you have a short bed, then it's only 6' long (useless)
the kennel will fit, but you may have to leave the tail gate down.

Your ok for length and maybe if you tip it a bit it should fit between the wheel wells in full size truck. Step sides are 4 ' max wide.
