No, even a new car that burns no more than one quart of oil every 1,000 miles is considered to have normal oil consumption and the manufacturer will tell you so. A worn engine with leaking valve seals and/or piston rings can be driven with oil usage of one quart every 400 miles and get along ok. You might need to change the spark plugs more often.

The absolutely worst thing about burning oil is---it will destroy your catalytic converter quickly. Check closely, you may have a leak.

That's 25,000 miles a year, that's a lot of driving.

first is it burning oil through the pipes or you loosing oil due to adding more frequent.if through pipes check for leaks on manifold and/or head gasket/block etc.. if adding more than normal yeah you have lotta miles but not unormal if you take care of the cars maintenance.
