We had just bought a new car the night before. We drove about 100 miles home and about 10 miles total in town. the next morning....less than 24 hours after having the car, the left front tire snaps and we're sitting in the middle of the highway. the tow truck driver said it was the ball joint. The dealership is sueing saying I hit a curb. Even if I hit a curb, which I never did, would that really cause my tire to collapse like that?

If this is a NEW car as you state you need to contact the manufacturer and get some one to look at it . This may be a recall situation. They have regional managers for problems like this. Find the home page on the internet or maybe there is some info. among your papers that come with the car. Get in contact with the head office at once. Don't let this dealer get away with this. Did you get a police report or anything you could use.

That could cause the tire to fall off like that, as for the dealer sueing... why would they sue you? And if you did hit a curb and caused damage I would call the insurance company.

you would have had to hit it really hard to have done damage to a ball joint like that, more than likely it was already bad and they didn't know it,all you can do is have it repaired, they may help with this one and they may not,it all depends, more than likely the joint is just worn out,if its a newer model car this shouldn't have happened to it,if you hit a curb that hard it would have bent a rim on the car also, good luck with it.

Yes it can. I don't know the Make or Model of your car. But I do know that Dodge Durango had a problem with that a few years ago.
