It has classes like bio and chem, but no pre-med. Does not mean that school is not good for people going to the medical feild? Or is bio major, chem major all considered pre- med

It would say premed program. Yours doesn't sound like it's got one. It'll look better if you're at a school with it, but I know English majors who went to med school.

There is no such thing as a pre-med major (or pre-law, pre-MBA, etc). You can major in anything you want so long as you take 1 year of Bio (including lab), 2 years of Chem (including labs), 1 year of Physics (including lab), 1 year of Calculus, 1 year of English, and some schools also require 1 semester of Psychology.

To see whether your school is good for pre-med, find out what percentage of its graduates get accepted to medical school on their 1st or 2nd try. A top school like Harvard or Stanford will have acceptance rates in the high 90's.

It doeens't mean its not good. It can be a great research academy that would be great if are planning a research over practice medial career. You can stay and get your bs in bio or chem then transfer to a med program. If they have no anatomy or physiology though you'll have some to catching up to do in a a grad med program. If that's the case I'd do one to two years there and then transfer to a school with a bonfide under grad pre-med program.

Until about 20 years ago, there were no pre-med majors. All pre-med meant was that you took the basic science classes that were prerequisites to admission to med schools.

Get a list of courses med schools require for entry and take them. Do well, and you'll go to med school.

Oh yeah. It REALLY helps to get some lab experience and lots of service hours. Doctors are supposed to like helping people.

Usually the schools website will say it has pre med, pre law stuff like that.

You might want to look under what majors and minors the school offers instead of class lists.

Biology and Chemisty can have a pre-med concentration. You should call the science department and see if they do pre-medical concentration.

It is the same for me.

I suggest you talk to a student counselor. This is exactly what they do. We cannot possibly know the criteria your school has if we don't know the name of your school.
