Compared to some of the horror movies coming out of France these days (High/Haute Tension being a great example) - the Saw franchise is actually FALLING BEHIND ;);););)

They were all really good movies! But now that John and Amanda are dead, who's gonna do the job? The plot is the traps that Jigsaw had left behind, but who's kidnapping the new victims? Who's making sure it goes according to plan? That means that someone took over. It's just not the same without Jigsaw. So, yes, it seems they're getting too out of it.
Also, I just read, people have already signed up for Saw V and VI, which will have Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) in it... maybe in flashbacks only? If we find out on this one that he's still alive, I might as well go watch a crappy soap opera.

I don't know how good it'll be this time... I'll still see it though.

I just hope it doesn't turn into Land-Before-Time sorta thing.

I walked out on Saw III because I thought it was too much. So yes, I think it's too far. I hate this current trend of "torture porn".

What happened to movies that just tried to scare you? Why must the horror genera be about how bloody and horrific they can make the deaths?

Nah...as long as they are making money...they'll keep making them. I mean look at how many Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th movies there were.
