The water is leaking from somewhere in the system. How do I pinpoint where it is coming from without destroying the house?

its easy, find the puddle, look up and trace the leak,is it constant? then a pressure line, not all the time then a drain leak hope it helps.

call a plumber! even if you do find it, how are you gonna fix it? If you can manage to live without water until tomorrow morning just turn off the water mains where ever you have shutoffs at. Either where you water heater is at or outside where your water meter is at. You didn't specify if it was supply or waste water, so i assumed it was supply lines leaking. Also, you could call a plumber right now, however it would cost an arm and a leg, because its after hours. Cheaper in the morn.

THAT you have to look for yourself. However, some points.
Main floor or basement.
Wet on ceiling?(roof).
Near a window where the sink is? - (plumbing).
Near a window without a sink? - window seal or around brick molding. Fixed from the outside.
Basement outer wall-to carpet--either window or crack in concrete. In any case, the wall is going to have to be ripped out to fix the leak first before the wall can be refixed with new material. Cracks in the concrete are fixed from the outside(so that will mean digging)to the footing.

You got to start somewhere. Do it before it gets freezing cold.

Only the plumbing type problems are indoor but I assumed you checked those first. Also your dishwasher drainage hose. And your icemaker drain from the fridge.

I don't think any one here can tell you about the water where its coming from. Its only you who can check it out. If you can not find it then you have to call a plumber.

Check you water heater first feel around the bottom and if it is wet it might need replacement. Then check your water meter or pump. These are the most common problems.
