Based on dropping the two bombs at the end of WW2:
Pro - Saved an estimated 1,000,000 American lives that would have been lost invading Japan's home islands.
Con - No actual military targets, huge civilian collateral damage.

Life would be very different without the bomb. The bomb has both a good and bad impact. The bad side of it is that it damages our environment and atmosphere and what is worse, it's too destructive. The good side is it ensures peace between the super powers because they know that even a war with conventional weapons could swiftly escalate into nuclear obliteration.

In regards to WWII, the Americans thought they could suffer at least a million casualties trying to capture Japan, plus of course all the Japanese deaths. The 100,000 or so who died in the bombings was much less loss of human life for both sides had they not been dropped. After the bombings the Japanese surrendered. The loss of life was not extreme for the war either. The fire bombing of several cities in Germany and Japan are all thought to have resulted in deaths of around 100,000 or greater.

The good--It ended WW2 saving the invasion of Japan"s homeland which it was to estimated to cause 1 million deaths and casualties to our Armed Forces--It prevented WW3 with Russia we had the Arms Race but no actual combat situations---It created Millions of jobs creating it.-- It has created jobs since due to Atomic Power Plants which produce Electricity now and into the future--The technology of its creation has spread to Nuclear Propulsion systems for submarines and surface vessels--also the offshoot of this technology has spread into the Medical field in Nuclear Medicines and Diagnostic Tests and scans.. THE BAD--It costs Billions of tax dollars to invent--Nuclear reactor meltowns costs billions--The long term radiation effects--Problems with storing Nuclear Waste and the danger of it leaking out into our water tables, the atmosphere and the Earth itself.. These are just a few of the many, many pros and cons. Hope this helps!!!!

Well lets get in to deterrence
The philosophy was developed that if you intimidate and threaten your opponent....he will back down (nuclear Holocaust).
DO not shoot me or I will destroy you. Sound like two kids in the sand box sorting things out...eh. We have progressed as a society to this point...and we still use playground rules for diplomacy. Now that is the kind of leadership we deserve....nothing has changed since the caveman started beating on each other... makes you proud ..uh

I wouldn't say we progressed as a society since the dropping of the Atomic bomb. The major cons are that huge amounts of civilians were killed, and that now the United States is afraid to use it's full military potential. After seeing it was capable of, it's way too hesitant to use it's full power to get things done.
The high publicity of wars makes death more open, which makes people unhappy. They don't want that, so they don't use their power to get done what needs to be done (Afghanistan...Iraq...) People can't handle it anymore.
Pros- It saved millions of AMERICAN lives, and let's face it - in times of war, you'd rather save the lives of your own country's citizens than worry about the people of your enemy.

it was bad because it killed a lot of innocent people, nothing good came of the technology afterward (the electric plants just pollute the earth), and it just proves that humans will destroy themselves.
the only good thing was that it ended a war but there where other ways of doing so they just took guts
