As Homo Sapiens are human beings, and there were no human beings before Homo Sapiens, the answer is very obvious.

homo sapiens developed large brains because their predecessors supposedly began to eat meat. The increased fat/protein in their diet stimulated brain growth. Homo sapiens are primarily supposed to be vegetarians, though we do have organs for digesting raw meat, which is becoming vestigial, or is shrinking. We are considered (by most) to be omnivores.

Since modern humans are called Homo sapiens, this is a trick question. We are omnivores, we eat plants, meat, whatever. I've never tried insects, but I know people who have. Ugh!

they ate both. the berries and other harvestable foods were a more stable type of nutrition, but nothing beat a good hunk of meat. So they were hunter-gatherers, getting meat when they could but mostly living on plants.
and everbody above me is dumb, were are homo sapien sapiens, so they are different than us.
