I am pro choice. I think abortion should be legal option for women. I don't think a newly formed fetus is any more a human than a egg yolk is a chicken. If you believe that life is sacred even before it's fully formed, then you'd be a hypocrite for eating an omelet. Plus, it is not like humanity is facing some kind of population deficit. We have a population surplus, so we no longer need to have all the babies we can. In this modern day, we can afford to be selective about which babies we birth. And if abortion were outlawed, what will happens to all the babies with severe birth defects or those born to rape victims, 12 year old girls and other mothers who are totally unfit and do not want to be mothers. I don't think we should bring children into the world when they are unwanted and almost guaranteed to have shitty childhoods. Some say abortion is selfish, but I disagree. If the mother is totally unfit or the baby is totally unwanted, I think abortion is the responsible thing to do.

Even if abortion was made illegal it would still take place - black market status. Abortion has to remain legal because it is every individual woman's choice. I don't think anyone can tell someone else they have to have a baby. I think it's ironic when religions ban birth control but condemn abortion. Abstinence is an option, but not a practical one. Teaching more comprehensive sexual education in schools would help with this matter a great deal. Another thing that would help is better health care coverage in this country.

If it can't survive on its own then it is not alive.

I don't think that they should save premature "Baby's" the size of new born kittens either...

We need to start thinking about the Q U A L I T Y of life and not just the quantity of life… Just because you CAN have lots of kids doesn’t mean that it is the best IDEA to have a lot of kids…

If you are not ready to raise a child then you should not be forced to raise one... That will only lead to anger, bitterness, and a bad life for the child.

And when it comes to “Giving it up for adoption”… Have you ever actually known any people that are products of the various State Run Homes? I have and if you could hear the tails of abuse, neglect, drug abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, exc. that happens IN THE STATE RUN HOMES you would begin to cry… like I did… then add in the tails of people that take in kids so they can get a slave and a few extra dollars each month…

Of the three people I have know that have been in both the Arizona State Child Care System AND the California State Child Care System all three are now dead… before the age of 26… 2 from what was determined to be suicide and one that we still don’t know if it was an accidental overdose or if it was in intentional overdose…

They had been raped and beaten… Starved and unloved… Their stories make me tear up just writing this now!

There are some people out there that shouldn't be allowed to breed... Like drug addicts and the severely mentally unstable...

If you are incapable of taking care of yourself then you are certainly not able to take care of a child!!

Not only am I broke and in a VERY unstable financial situation right now I suffer from depression, ptsd, and Borderline Personality Disorder because of an abusive, drug and alcohol addicted mother and I know that not only would I cause my child to be as messed up as I am but I know that it would probably lead to my own mental state deteriorating even more.

If you can’t feed it don’t breed it is a stupid bumper sticker but it is still a good concept.

I’m against Abortion being used as Birth Control… That is just unhealthy… But there are many ways that even the most responsible person has an “Oops!” situation…

Condoms break, she took her birth control pill an hour later then usual, she got antibiotics and it neutralized the birth control, the man lied that he couldn’t have kids, incest, rape… there are LOTS of causes of the “oops”.

A child is a RESPONSIBILITY… The most IMPORTANT responsibility of your life… If you are not ready to live up to that responsibility then you shouldn’t have to…

“God” kills baby’s all the time… Nature, Crib Death, Viruses, Bacteria, humans… Baby’s die CONSTANTLY… The statistics say that death rate in the first 7 months of life is only equaled by the death rate of people above 70 years old!

And remember… abortion and birth control is NOT a new thing… We have been practicing BOTH since the first human realized that we have a choice when it comes to our bodies and our reproduction.

We, as a species, have tried so hard to prevent pregnancy that we caused a flower that supposedly had birth control properties to go extinct during the time of the Greeks!!

Crocodile dung was a common ingredient in ancient Egypt!

We need to drop the mythology and start looking at our biology…

We hold the reproduction of almost every species of animal in our hands yet we don’t feel it appropriate to regulate our own reproduction??

Why is it ok to hinder the reproduction of thousands of other species yet a “Sin” to screw with our own?

Does god hate animals yet love us so much that he’s ok with that?

For me I have 3 answers:
Morally: I think that taking humn life is wrong in most cases, abortion being one f the wrong cases.
Legally: It should be both safe and legal as my morals are not everyone's and there are times when it is needed.
Realistcally: Abortion should near be considered a responsible or acceptable form of birth control. If you're even slightly interested in sex you should know and be prepared to use safe forms of birth control (and protection from STD's) even if you intend to wait until marriage. This is a responsibility that shouldbe taught by all parents and schools, and even churches. (not saying pre-marital sex should be encouraged, just that the responsibility should be.)
