Flattery is only verbal illusion. We say things sometimes that we really don't mean but try to get into the spirit of things. I do not respond to flattery, but I am enormously pleased if someone says something meaningful about my character or my appearance

I would have to agree with the person above me; I too, would be flatter if someone complimented me about my character or personality.

I cannot do much about my appearance but I can control my character so I prefer to be complimented on my character.

If any body give remarks about my improvement, I like more rather than any compliment, so remarks flatter me most.

my appearance...at 30 and after a baby, it's nice to hear that you still "got it" - I'm comfortable with my character - compliments won't help much!

Character/personality
My heart sings when someone says that they can tell I'm a good mother.
Looks fade. And I don't always look that great.
