Since it's a boy I'd go Shane but I'd use Shayne for a girl.

I would say Shane because when I saw Shayne I said Cheyanne. I know that's not how you say it but I'm an average person so most people might say it that way. Just think about when he gets into middle or high school. When a substitute teacher is doing roll call and he says Cheyanne. Do you think your son will be embarrased? Yeah!! I hope my advice helps you...

Shane! Not only is it the traditional form, but adding a random Y to a name where one does not belong is currently a very trendy thing to do to make a masculine name somehow more feminine. In other words, many seeing "Shayne" on paper will assume it an attempt to indicate femininity. Not something I see any point in doing to my child. No reason to do it to yours, either. ;)

shane, i like that name for both boys and girls. i think the spelling "shayne" is more feminine. just my opinion. hope this helped. :D
