My aunt got married and as the oldest single female (and one of the only ones who has time and brains to plan this), the responsibility for our family reunion has fallen to me.

I'm looking for one location/city where 30-45 people can stay for a week with low cost. Near a state park would be great or somewhere with a house for rent...

I'm not familiar with Tennessee, what city/region would y'all recommend?

TN is a great state and the cool thing is you can do it pretty cheap. If you are looking for camping and cabins you might want to try the Smokey Mountain National Park, you will need to do this soon they do fill up fast. However they have cabins and camping available, which is always good because then people can rent a cabin, bring their campers or sleep in a tent. This always works well with our family. There are also tons of cabins for rent in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. You can find them in all price ranges and there are also several RV parks and campgrounds nearby. There is also something to do for everyone! You can spend time in the outdoors and do things like hiking, canoeing, and fishing. You can set up group outings so that people have choices. There is also a ton of shopping and attractions to see in either of the towns. There are tons of shows in the area and they do offer “group” rates. Contact them and tell them you have 40 people and what can they do for you. Trust me by doing this you can save a lot of cash. Speaking of that I used to work in hotels, there are tons of them in this area for all price ranges. If you all decide on a hotel call them and negotiate a group rate! Hotels love to book big groups and they will offer you up deals you just have to ask! You can even sometimes get“hospitality” room for free in which you call can hang out in. The good thing about this area is there is a lot of stuff to do with kids of ALL ages! You can get coupons for all the attractions, again call for their group rates most of them offer something! The aquarium there is just awesome! Always a good time!

There are tons of “camping” resorts outside of Nashville. They have all kinds there. There are also a few state parks that allow camping in the area. Again there is a ton of stuff to do in Nashville, and if you all like the music scene then this might be the place for you. There are cabins in the area but not as many as Pigeon Forge area. I do love Nashville however it might be a bit harder to plan a family reunion here. The riverboat cruises are just awesome. Something the family is not going to forget! There is also plenty of stuff for the kids to do!

I might also check out Knoxville TN. Wonderful area and a little bit smaller than the other two. Again they have both state and private campground here. Plenty to choose from. They also have some cheap hotels and cabins in the area. Again plenty of shows, and attractions for the kids. We found Knoxville to be a little cheaper than the other two and really enjoy it when we go! The zoo here is just awesome and there is always some type of festival going on here. The mountains are just breathtaking. You can stay outside of town and yet be in town in just minutes! There is a ton of outdoor stuff that you can do here which always pleases the guys! Be sure to ride the steam engine if you all go, it is a good time and they do, group tours!

I would also contact the visitor’s center for the cities you are looking into. Let them know that you are planning this and that there are about 40 people. Tell them what you are looking for and trust me they will help you find it! I contact the chamber/visitors center for every city I go too! This is a FREE service, and hey they are locals and they know of places that work with groups! Also be sure to ask for the FREE visitor’s packet! It comes with maps, coupons and attraction info and ideas. This can be way helpful! Good luck I hope this helps you and have a great time!

Here are some sites you may want to look at. Personally, for kids activities Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg may be your best bet although alot of kids stuff may close during off season in that area but not all. Theres the Metcalf Bottoms picnic area near Gatlinburg for an outdoor day of reunion. My family has had one there a few times. I also included a few other sites for meeting/reunion facilities in state parks where there are lodges and cabins. I am not sure of exactly what you are looking for as far as how many adults vs children activities and pets. Off season rates are pretty good in Gatlinburg and pigeon forge plus theres some cabins outside of those cities that are on Douglas lake if you want on the lake. Theres Norris SP and Big Ridge SP that are outside of Knoxville, Tn up I-75 North. Cumberland Gap NP has excellent shower facilities if camping is a consideration. Also, Greenbrier Island Campground is a good one just outside of Gatlinburg, TN. Fall Creek Falls is a nice area with nice campground sites and a lodge with cabins also...not sure of the cheapness though. Check these sites out and if you have any questions email me and I will help out anyway I can.

there's a great form of issues to do!! lease a campground section (no longer too high priced) so all and sundry can carry out in the section and cook meals at the same time as a team! Have a water combat (communities on a field and pass at one yet another, no factors in case you like!) Spin on a bat and run down the sector with a bucket of water. the purpose is to fill the great bucket on the different end (it fairly is harder than it appears that evidently!) Have 2 or extra communities of a few. Make all and sundry carry a %and make a school. THen have all and sundry wager who's who! it fairly is perplexing in the a number of older %.! Have frisbees and kites for the youngsters or maybe do a nature hunt! (Have stuff hidden in the timber and do a relay with communities to discover the products.) in case you like even have prizes on the top of the reunion and a comedy open mike night around the fireplace for thoughts!!

well, as much as I love, love, love the Nashville area, I have to agree with Gatlinburg mostly because they have a huge abundance of great cabins for rent that are fairly reasonable. Just google "Gatlinburg cabins for rent" and you'll come up with more than you'll know what to do with! There is a lot to do in that area- great shopping, close to the Smokies, plenty of live shows and you're right close to Sevierville and Pigeon Forge. Possibly, Dollywood will be open which is fun and there is a great aquarium in Gatlinburg. have fun!

I love Chattanooga and the TN aquarium. Gatlingburg also has great cabins you can rent reasonably.
