A house is just somewhere you hang your hat. A home can be a tent as well as a mansion, rented or owned, but its made a home by 'connections'. Seems like living in a place in a strange city, with no friends or family nearby would make it difficult to make that a 'home', but having friends or family nearby who you have a strong connection to would make any house a home. Thats been my experience anyway.
