Lord this is long and dumb--over 40 years ago I had the combo to a locked gate to an old Indian hot springs on the side of a mountain in California. My hub our best male friend and my little 2 month old son drove up there--I did not take a suit--well the guys kept yelling at me to come in and how great the water was. I stripped down to my bra and put my hubs shorts on over my panties and got in the water with them--lil one was on the tail gate of the truck backed right to where we were and fast asleep in his little seat. We were splashing around, only about 4' deep and suddenly there were about 30 kids around us---a church group had crawled over the private fence and came up there. They were making wise cracks and I was mortified! Hub said -- Just get out and hold your head high and walk to the truck! Yeah, well there were no aluminum steps you had to worm your way in and out of the pool. I did and wanted to die I was so embarrassed.

There's a GREAT OCEAN to dip in...the Mediterranean and I SELDOM wore a bathing suit there...and I lived on the Med for over 3 years, visited the coasts several times. When in Rome, do as the Romans do....even skinny dippin'!

No. I always pack one - just in case. I used to ski every weekend when I was single and I never wanted to miss the opportunity to go in a heated pool or spa. I have always been a fan of the adage: "It's better to have it & not need it than to need it & not have it". A swimsuit takes up such a small part of the luggage anyway. Great question.

It was in the late 60's at Santa Monica Beach. I was feeling mischievous, so I had to talk this guy into taking off our clothes and running into the ocean. He stripped down to his skivvies and I stripped down to my underpants and bra. We frolicked in the ocean under the moonlight then ran through the sand. What a mess! He's probably still dusting sand out of his car. LOL Those were the good old days. I finally married to him ten years ago!

Any pair of Dockers can quickly become swimwear. The front desk looks at you weird when you ask to borrow scissors and then take them up to your room. Its an awkward thing because your getting ready to jump into their pool with cut off dockers....you cant have them know that.

Been there, done that. In Hawaii no less. Never happened in Jamaica. When I forgot my suit there, I just went without. However, I will admit, I was a lot younger and in a lot better shape than I am now.

No one would want to see me in briefs! There have been times I've had to improvise though. White is a no-no!
