Stretch out and nasalise your "A"'s. Diphthong the "e". Think Uhh-ee.

Otherwise, look to Standard British.

Oz(Australian) is an attitude, not just a "G'Day" . Paul Hogan (of course) did a very effective Oz, but do not overlook Eric Idle's "Australian Table Wine" monologue. It has all the vowel sounds, as well as the cadence, that you require.

i'm american and i would never do that because i am aware that i would sound like an idiot. also i think people who mock accents sound like idiots. legit australian accents are cute though!

if your director has chosen a play requiring an dialect that he cannot teach the actors, he is an idiot and doesn't know the director's responsibilities he has to teach you or get a teacher for you. Listen to the Geico Gecko, rent Crocodile Dundee films.
