i found this thing in my backyard, its like a big mosquito, i dont know what its called and i need to use it for my bug collection, its extremly common, there were like 10, 000 in my yard, please help!

Could possibly be what is commonly referred to as a mosquito hawk or giant mosquito. See this website to check if this is what you have.

I'd be willing to bet that you're seeing mayflies. They are around this time of year in some places. They looke like a HUGE mosquito - like an inch and a half across - but they're just flies, and don't bite at all :-)

Very likely a Mosquito hawk. They are not blood suckers and their larva feed on the larva of regular mosquitoes so they are nice to have around.

Was it possibly a Flying Daddy Longlegs? They look like giant Mosquitos. They are actually Daddy Long Legs.
