I know this question has probably been asked a million times, but I'm asking it again. I got my Dell laptop about three or four years ago. It's a Dell Inspiron 1100 (old, I know) with Windows XP. Currently, I get internet by plugging in my ethernet cord (I have Comcast cable internet). However, my campus is wireless and I'd like to be able to take my laptop to class with me. Do I just need to get and install a wireless card? If not, what else needs to be done so that I can have wireless internet at school? Thanks!

Well usually most laptops already have a built in wifi adapter. If you need to search for a wireless connection there's an icon of two computers on the bottom right bar. Click it twice and a new windows open up, double click the strongest network and voila. If that doesn't work then... A) You need to get a new network card as wireless internet security went up and you might require a password or isn't compatible with your computer B) I don't know but call a technician? Hope it helps!

Yes a wireless card is needed but that is the only thing you need if they have wireless access points all over the campus, but if they did not then you would also need a wireless router.
