It's very possible that you ended up with a file that did not load completely, or has become corrupted. A "repair" installation of Windows XP will normally fix this problem. Just follow these instructions.

REPAIRING OR REINSTALLING WINDOWS XP

Turn your PC on and insert the Windows XP disk into the CD/DVD drive.

Reboot/restart the PC. This will cause the PC to boot from the XP disk and not the hard drive..

Allow the PC to run the boot up sequence. It will stop at a “black and white” screen and there will be an option to select a “repair” installation or a “full” installation.

NOTE:

If you simply want to repair/fix any and all corrupted and/or problem XP files select the “repair” option. This will only rewrite the XP files and will not affect any of your personal files or software on your PC.

If you want to Format the hard drive and rebuild it completely select the “full” installation option. Be aware that with this option you will “erase” all the files and software on that hard drive.

Select either the “repair” or “full” installation option and simply let the software run. Follow any onscreen prompts that may appear, especially during the “full” installation.

Hope this helps.

This is Master Boot Record (MBR) problem. The best thing you can do is to download a iso file of Linux Rescue CD and use a CD burning software, ie: Roxio or Sonic, and burn the image to a CD. After you do that pop the CD into the CD drive before you turn on the computer. After everything loads press F2. You should then get a bunch of information and it will ask you to enter a selection, type gag. It will then ask you if you want to continue, yes you do want to go on. It will reset your MBR and it should work. If that does not then contact me at:

Here is a link to download the iso file for the CD:

Select the first option and use a CD burning application to burn a CD.

Hit the ESC key to boot from cd, and install XP. If XP is already installed then take the disk out of the rom..

it is probable because of the over heating of processor. ensure that your laptop is loose from dirt and CPU Fan is rotating correct. As you have already reformatted your laptop so situation should not be there on the subject remember of residing house windows. there is a few hardware this is coming up the subject, so attempt to reinsert RAM, image Card etc. If further hardware is put in detach and reattach it one via one till you isolate the subject.
