I keep hearing that American schools need more money, yet others tell me money is not the issue, since I heard a school in America, I think it was in Kansas city, was funded for billions of dollars and the school actually lost its funding. Because the school didn't meet state standards.
I only went to high school here for three years but it was a private school, and the tests were really easy compared to the school I went to overseas. Even now I'm going to college here in America and I find it easy, so what's the problem with American schools. And why can't parents choose the school for their children?

Then what if the school district your child is assigned to is not really performing at a level you want your child to be in, or the schools way of thinking and motivating the child is below the level you expect, do parents still let their kids go to a school like that, is that normal?

Wow argus, your ego is full of hot air if you never heard of this school in Kansas, it was on 20/20.
furthermore, your separation of being smart just proves how ignorant and narrow your perception of this world.
Is the glass-half full or half-empty, it depends on your perspective quiet simply, we're the same and we're not, Listen. I'm not better than you I just think different.

How many lives may have been saved if just one person in that room had been carrying a concealed weapon? For high school, only the teachers and administrators should be considered, but in college, why not? Do you really believe that the police can or will defend you? Obviously at Va Tech, it didn't work very well now, did it? What's wrong with the Criminal being afraid of the victim for a change? Just do a little research, see the difference in violent crime in areas that allow concealed carry vs. those that don't. It really is obvious, isn't it?

Your question is somewhat confusing.
If you went to a private school, you should know that is an option to the public school, therefore you ready knew your answer.
Public schools in the USA are mostly financed by local tax payers, only a Small percentage of the money come
from the state or federal government.
You mentioned a school in Kansas City being funded
with millions of dollars, dollars from whom?
I also went to school overseas, and that includes college,
and i also went to school in the USA, including college.
I must tell you, you are making up stories, and i have my doubts if you have the high school diploma.
PS
you are not smart as you think,i can see thru you

The problem with public schools in this country(USA) is that schools are trying to create test-takers, not educated individuals. They don't care if you learn the material or not as long as you can take the standardized tests and score well. These tests determine, in part, the funding of the school. Higher test scores = more funding. It all comes back to money. The Bible says that money is the root of all evil, and this government is getting more evil by the day.

Here in TN. you go in the district you live in. They don't care where you goo if it is a private school and you can take them out and teach them your self. and the school don't give you any help at all you have to buy all your books your self. While you pay taxes to supply the public school My opinion they have to much play and not enough studying in school. To much waisted time. My son was home schooled, He is waiting to go to colledge now he cant go until he is 18.
I home schooled him so he could learn a lot more things that they don't teach in school. And some of the schooled are so dangerous. He is planning on making a Surgeon.

In Maryland children are assigned to a school, but parents can request to have their child moved to a different school. Whether the child is moved depends on a lot of things, like transportation and space within the requested school.

Parents can choose....sort of.
You have to go to a school you live near to. This is because *statistically* the closer you live, the more you will show up/be on time. If kids are late, their parents get fined. in california its called SARB.
Also, America isnt a country. If you mean united states of america then that makes more sense. America is actually two contenents: North and South America.
Some people get this confused.

Yes, but it may cost, there are secular private schools, Christian schools have plans whereby some costs can be assisted through the parents working with the school.
One of the best choices is home schooling, testing is done and the student works at age/subject levels.
It is quite organized now and includes socialization and sports activities.

I know that in Florida, you are assigned to a school based on the district in which you live. You basically have no choice unless the school fails some statewide test miserably, which is pretty unusual.

In our town, after kindergarten, if the child is in public school, you can file for a "freedom of choice" and put your child in any school in the area. There are a lot more schools here than there were when I was a kid...
