When I watch movies on my laptop, the volume do not go as loud. Even when I max out the volume on my laptop, the sound is still low, especially when watching certain movies where the characters whisper. Is there a way i can further increase the volume on my laptop?

I know the problem myself very well.

Look for an option called dynamic range compression (or DRC, it increases the volume of quite sounds and lowers the volume of loud sounds) in your DVD playing software which should be on, also there might be an option for amplifying the sound more in there as well (depending on what software you're watching movies with).

Plugging external speakers in also works.

plug in speakers to the headphone jack and turn the speakers up
