I've been to the Toledo Zoo, Cleveland Zoo, and Akron Zoo. I would say by far Toledo is the best of the three. It has wonderful exhibits, can see all the animals, is animal friendly too and can be walked easily enough. Then Cleveland Zoo. Some of the animals are hard to see due to the large spaces available. And again due to the large spaces it can be a hike to see everything. Akron Zoo comes in third, very small, very small. And is on a hill so if you don't like walking upwards half the time best not walk it. Beyond that is ok for a quick in and out type of zoo. Will take only 2-3 hours to see everything its that small.

Cleveland Zoo's Rainforest kicks butt. Zoo is big and there's a lot of walking. Columbus Zoo's Valentines tour is $$ but neat-I got to have a tiger cub in my lap! Aquarium outside Cincy (Newport KY) was super crowded and pricey...too crowded to see much.

Build a fence around Columbus, then you'll have it.
