Morgan Freeman's character in "Along Came A Spider". I always wanted to become a forensics psychologist or a profiler. Am a psych grad and a law enforcer....but somehow, being a profiler is something I cannot effectively be. No such application in my country

It's a tie between Sherlock Holmes and Detective Bucket (from Bleak House). Even though they're guys. Really, I can't think of many (actually, any!) female detectives.
I think Sherlock wins.

MONK! he is obsessive compulsive, so he's not just a good detective, but he's good because he's unique. anyone can be a detective, but not just anyone can see the things that MONK sees. :)
