To me it means that a person has taken the time to stop in their busy life to reflect on the past and what the future can be.

Break this down into smaller parts, so it's not such an overwhelming statement:

1. Time stood still.
(what does it mean for 'time to stand still?')

2. It shared with me . . .
('it' is the pause in time, and the time 'shared' something in that moment of pause with you...)

3. ....all that had been...
(if something was 'all it had already been' - is it in the past, the present, or the future?)

4. ....and all that was to come...
(if something was 'all that was to come' - is it in the past, the present, or the future?)

5. Now, it's your job to blend YOUR IDEAS about this quote, "time stood still and it shared with me all that had been and all that was to come..."

6. Good luck .... You CAN do this .... let "time stand still" :-)

To me, "time stood still and it shared with me all that had been..." this is saying that something very significant has happened in this persons life that has caused them to stop and think about what actions took place to bring them to this point (the thing that happened) and "and all that was to come.." the consequences that are to inevitably take place due to the thing that happened.

The person came to a revelation. All their life, they had been carrying on, subconsciously unaware of the events happening right before them. But then, an event occur ed that made them discover their real motives/emotions. Or perhaps, they realized a major theme in the book. This is probably part of a soliloquy, right?

A person has made a major realization that forced her to stand still & understand her past & see her future.

If you are sci fi fan - the quote sounds like something one of the new Dr. Whos assistants would say.

personally i think here the time is the moment when in a situation where u think u gonna die. on these kind of moments time slows down(actually it doesnt just our brain starts to rush) and all your past life flashes through ur mind, ur good n bad memories of the past. at the same time u think of what would u miss if u die at that moment.

as we can read this quote we can assume that the author survived.

I think it means that the person is experiencing a change in their life, maybe growing up? They are looking back on what has happened in their life but they are looking to the future because of this one event.

life is like a parade, where you are right now, may be where the horses are pooping, however, you have already seen many great floats, and heard wonderful melodies, and you know that more good times are on there way!
