You can estimate this. Imagine each CD is $6 after tax. (Price with tax added is usually just a few cents more than the actual price.)

Then a half-dozen (6) CDs would cost $36 and a dozen (12) CDs would cost $72. The only answer that is between the two is $50. So she must have spent $50.

And if you want to figure out the number she bought, they'd have to be around $6 dollars. That means 8 CDs. If you divide $50 by 8 you get an actual price after tax of $6.25. Incidentally this means a tax rate of about 6 1/8%

5.89 * 6 = 35.34

5.89 * 12 =70.68

So, it has to be between the two answers.

B is the right answer.

what state did she buy them in.....isn't tax different in all places? i would say A B C and D
