Hands Down -- Rock-n-Roll!!!
Rap has clever lyrics (if they are not offensive) and a good beat, but it doesn't have the same magic or allure. I can bop my head, tap my fingers but it just doesn't get down to the marrow of my bones. It doesn't call me.
A good rock-n-roll beat can take me over. Combine it with good lyrics, a clever twist on the words, a back beat that makes my toes tap and my body move...it's hard to ignore. I am pulled to the dance floor like a magnet. If there is no dance floor...I struggle to remain still.
"It's gotta be rock-and-roll music if you wanna dance we me!"

I wouldn't say one is better than the other. They're both great genres and good to listen to when you're in any mood. But rap tends to focus on certain things people would rather not hear and tends to sound the same in every song. Rock can get boring because of all the bands trying to out win each other and bands who sound the same. They both have pros and cons. But I tend to like rock more than rap most of the time.

Rock because rap music usually talks about how much money they have and stuff, and rock is different.
That doesn't mean I have something against rap music though!!!

Rock is better if only by default, meaning virtually anything would be better than rap, even radio-commercial jingles. I'd rather listen to a 45-minute tape of my furnace running than listen to rap.
